The Caribbean
Barbados
Barbados is situated east of the Caribbean Sea and is an independent island nation. The country lies in the southern Caribbean region and is a part of the Lesser Antilles. Its capital is Bridgetown and has a population of about 300,000. Barbados is a relatively flat island, the highest point being Mount Hillaby. The island is a well developed tourist destination, that accounts for nearly 50% for the economy, others being sugarcane cultivation and manufacturing. The southern and western coasts of Barbados are popular, with the calm light blue Ocean waters with fine white and pinkish sandy beaches.
